I learned to listen

When I grew just a bit older I learned a few more things

I learned about the opposite sex

I learned to think for myself

I learned it was important to have an opinion

I learned the importance of privacy

I thought I learned about love.

Then as the years flew by I learned even more

I learned nothing is forever and children grow up and move away

I learned family get togethers don’t always materialize

I learned I never seemed to have enough time

I learned about strength and learned to live alone

When I grew really old, I believed I had learned everything i needed to know

until

The virus called Covid- 19 taught me even more

I learned fear descends without warning despite age

I learned that life alone is quite different from quarantine

I learned rational people can become frightened and

I learned a new awareness of the gift of time and then

I learned how easy it becomes to do less with that gift.

And I realized I was still learning about the importance and magnitude of love.
