Man Led Nassau Officers On Chase On Sunrise Highway: Police

Police say the man fled during a traffic stop, striking multiple cars while trying to evade officers.

An Elmont man was arrested in Massapequa Tuesday evening after police say he fled from officers and struck multiple cars in the process.

According to police, officers conducted a traffic stop on a car on Sunrise Highway, near Lake Shore Boulevard, at 6:20 p.m. When the officer approached the car to speak to the driver, police say the driver took off heading west on Sunrise Highway. Police say he struck two other cars but kept going.

Police sent out a description of the car to other officers in the area. When they responded, police say the driver hit another NCPD car, which brought him to a stop. He then got out of the car, police said, and fled on foot.
