Nassau Baby Born in Ambulance

The baby boy just couldn't wait to come into the world Thursday.

MASSAPEQUA, NY - A baby boy was born en route to the hospital in Massapequa early Thursday, police said.

Nassau Police responded to a 911 call for a 26-year-old woman having contractions at her Shell Street home at about 12:05 a.m.

The woman, who was nine months pregnant, was being transported to an area hospital when officers and a police medic stopped the ambulance and delivered a baby boy.

The mother and her son were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip and admitted.

The officers who delivered the baby will be reunited with the mother and baby Friday morning during a press conference at the hospital.
