Massapequa Hosts 24-Hour Lacrosse Game To Support Veterans
The Field of Dreams in Massapequa is hosting the annual Shootout for Soldiers 24-hour lacrosse game to raise money for veterans.
MASSAPEQUA, NY — A 24-hour long lacrosse game started at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Field of Dreams in Massapequa to raise money for American veterans. The event is organized by Shootout for Soldiers, a nonprofit that hosts 24-hour lacrosse games across the country.
The shootout ends at 9 a.m. Friday and is made up of a collection of games from players of all skill levels and ages.
Shootout for Soldiers aims to "use lacrosse as a platform" to support U.S. veterans and foster community engagement, the organization wrote on its website.

Shootout for Soldiers Long Island 2019 has raised more than $149,000 of its $150,000 goal. This comes on the heels of fundraising totals this year of more than $40,000 in Atlanta, $94,000 in Baltimore, $43,000 in Boston, $93,000 in Philadelphia, and $48,000 in Ohio, according to its website.
Notably, fundraising can continue at these locations even after the 24-hour game is finished.

Massapequa is the sixth stop in its summer tour, with more planned in Canandaigua, New York, as well as Washington D.C., California, Seattle and Jacksonville.
