Massapequa School Board Grants Tenure To 23
A total of 23 teachers, administrators, assistant teachers and staff members received tenure during a recent board meeting.

The Massapequa School District Board of Education granted tenure to a total of 23 staff members at a recent board meeting.
The staff members, who received the honor on May 18, all successfully completed their probationary periods.
Administrators receiving tenure included East Lake Elementary School Assistant Principal Bryan Piotrowski, Executive Assistant for Guidance Paul Weber and Secondary Committee on Special Education Chairwoman Michelle Provenzano.

Teachers who received tenure included:
- William Chlystun - Berner Middle School, social studies
- Angela Czypinski - Massapequa High School, special education
- Tara Gonzalez - Lockhart Elementary School, library media specialist
- Kathryn Zaffuto - Berner Middle School, math
- Marian Zedalis Birch Lane Elementary School, special education
The following teacher assistants also were awarded tenure:

- Birch Lane Elementary School: Carolyn Azzariti and Susan Jones
- East Lake Elementary School: Lori Mott and Tara Troise
- Fairfield Elementary School: Elizabeth Iurillo
- McKenna Elementary School: Bridget Kramer, Sonia Quadrino
- Unqua Elementary School: Cindy Lichtwar, Krystle Pellicano, Susan Risola, Kathleen Sullivan and Geraldine Woll
- Berner Middle School: Glenn Stockwell
- Massapequa High school, Ames campus: Grazia Exarchou
- Massapequa High school, main campus: Johann Greene
Board of Education President Maryanne Fisher said that receiving tenure marks an important step in their professional lives, demonstrates their strong work ethic and reflects their willingness to uphold the district’s mission of educating the whole child.
Superintendent Lucille F. Iconis added that, after parents, educators are the most influential people in the lives of children and the district entrusts them with this great responsibility.
