Massapequa School District Appoints New Administrators

The new administrators will serve their new roles for the 2017-2018 school year.

Several administrators and teachers in the Massapequa School District will serve in new roles for the 2017-18 school year following appointments announced at the recent board of education meeting.

Dr. Thomas Fasano, previously the assistant to the superintendent for curriculum and instruction, has been named assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction.

He is beginning his 10th year in the district and is also a professor in the educational administration program at St. John’s University.

Robert Schilling becomes the assistant to the superintendent for human resources and general administration after previously overseeing the areas of assessment, student data and technology services.

He will now focus on personnel, including the hiring of teachers and staff, in a district that employs a total of 1,100 people.

Schilling has been an administrator in the district for 18 years.

Bryan Piotrowski, the assistant principal at East Lake Elementary School for the past three years, will now serve as the executive director for technology and general administration.

He will support teachers and administrators on the integration of instructional technology into the schools, and supervise the district’s technology learning coaches, computer monitors and computer teaching assistants.

Schilling and Piotrowski are both graduates of the Massapequa School District.

Lisa Silveri, a world language teacher in the district for more than 10 years, takes on the role of administrative associate for general administration.

Her responsibilities will include implementation of federal grants, serving as a liaison to outside organizations, working on board and district policy, and special projects.
