Massapequa Schools Considering Trade with TOBAY

Proposal would hand Carman Road School land over to Town, which would in turn renovate Berner athletic fields.

Three acres of land at the defunct Carman Road School may be transformed into parkland in a proposed deal between Massapequa School District and the Town of Oyster Bay.

A meeting is set for Wednesday to address the proposal that would trade the land ownership for a full renovation of Berner Middle School’s athletic fields.

According to a letter from school officials, the deal would transfer about three acres of unused land at Carman Road School to the Town of Oyster Bay. With the Carman Road School out of commission for more than 40 years, the currently unused land would become parkland for the community under the Town’s domain.
