Massapequa Students Start A New School Year
Thousands of students began the new year at one of nine schools in the district on Wednesday.

Thousands of eager students began the new year at one of the nine schools in the Massapequa School District on Wednesday.
Greeted by a smiling staff, the youngsters found their friends and made their way to their first classes.

Massapequa High School students had their first science classes in the newly renovated laboratories. At the Ames Campus, ninth-graders easily found their way around the building after touring it a week earlier.
Once students arrived at Berner Middle School, Principal Jason Esposito grabbed the microphone in the main office and welcomed the new sixth- and seventh-graders, along with the returning eighth-graders.

Sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders arrived for the start of the 2017-18 school year at Berner Middle School
During first period classes, all students received their locker assignments.
This year marks the expansion of the district’s one-to- one Chromebook initiative, with devices now provided to all students in third grade and up.

After students unpacked and sorted their traditional school supplies such as pens, notebooks and glue sticks, elementary school teachers in third, fourth and fifth grades introduced them to the technology that they will use daily for research and writing.
