Massapequa Woman Involved In Fatal Crash

A man was killed in the two-car crash that occurred Tuesday afternoon, police say.

WEST BABYLON, NY – A man was killed in a two-car crash in West Babylon Tuesday afternoon, Suffolk Police said.

According to police, Catherine Vezzi, 40, of Massapequa, was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Traverse north on Little East Neck Road when her SUV collided with a 2016 Honda CRV that was traveling west on Locust Avenue and attempting to make a left onto southbound Little East Neck Road at about 4:55 p.m.

The driver of the CRV, a man from West Babylon, was freed from his SUV by Suffolk County Police Emergency Service officers and personnel from the West Babylon Fire Department. He was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip by West Babylon Fire Department Rescue where he died from his injuries. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, police said.

Vezzi was treated for minor injuries, police said.

No criminal charges have been filed. The investigation is continuing.
