Motorcyclist Seriously Hurt in Massapequa Crash

The accident occurred Friday afternoon, police say.

A 69-year-old man was airlifted to the hospital after his motorcycle collided with a car in Massapequa Friday afternoon, police said.

According to police, the motorcyclist, who police did not identify, was traveling northbound on Hicksville Road when he crashed into a Toyota Corolla at the intersection of Sunrise Highway at about 3:50 p.m.

The 23-year-old driver of the Corolla was attempting to make a left turn when the collision occurred, police said.

The motorcyclist suffered a serious non-life threatening leg injury and was transported by helicopter to an area hospital for treatment, police said.

Both vehicles were impounded for brake and safety checks. The investigation is continuing. Police said no criminality was involved in the crash.

Less than a half hour after the crash, a motorcyclist was killed in an accident in Huntington.
