Nassau Woman Charged With Scamming Upstate Resident
Police say she scammed her victim out of $3,000 by saying they were entered into a fake lottery.

A Massapequa woman was arrested upstate and charged with grand larceny after police say she scammed a person out of thousands of dollars.
According to police, Amina R. Nasir, 23, of Lake Street, was in Orangetown, New York, and convinced a resident there that they were entered into a lottery. In order to have the chance to win prizes, police say that Nasir told the resident that they had to pay her $3,000, which they did.
Police say there was no lottery and that the Orangetown resident was scammed.

Police arrested Nasir at her home and transported her to Orangetown Police Headquarters, where she was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny. She is being held in the Rockland County Jail on $10,000 bail, and is due back in court on Tuesday.
