Never Too Old

To Learn

Are we ever to old to learn?

An interesting question. However, since we agreed long ago that I will share many things, even though today is Christmas, I will still not reveal either weight or age,.

I must admit though that despite statistics, I have learned much in these past 24 months.

Primarily, I learned to accept kindness, not only from total strangers, but anyone who touches my life.

I am thrilled with every hand that reaches out as I stare with foreboding at the glistening pavement decorated with patches of ice.

I am constantly comforted by the quick response of the amazing concierge staff when the technicalities of the thermostat remote are too complicated to comprehend

I have met many strangers, some of whom became friends, others will ever be welcome acquaintances.

I learned about the amazing efficiency of an electric oven after years of only using gas appliances.

I relinquished a car, admittedly, with grave reservations. To my total surprise, I don’t miss the upkeep, the financial responsibilities, or most of all parking. Uber, Lyft, Taxis and chauffeurs are all incredible and available sources of transportation.

I can survive a northern winter.

I realize all the values I learned in Hells Kitchen are still being taught in other areas of our beloved country.

I was wise beyond words to insist on bringing my exercise bike when the movers arrived..

I am not the only parent who has known pain or rejection and survived.

I am not the only Mother who has Fabulous kids who reward me constantly with their love.

I am thankful I listened to the advice of Nancy, a young friend, before relocating and bought a new Ipad, even though I didn’t think I needed one.

I learned with gratitude that all the friends and family,who are no longer neighbors, still keep me in their loving embrace though today’s technology.

I remember daily how many blessings the Lord has given me throughout so many years and how He constantly guides me on this amazing journey called life.,

I discovered the words of “It’s a small world after all,” are absolutely true and life can still be fun.

Now I wish Merry Christmas to all and in the words of Tiny Tim, “God Bless Everyone!”
