No. 97: Visit Massapequa Fire Department Memorial
A testament to those who gave their all in the service of their community.
One of the most honorable and selfless professions is that of a firefighter. It's a job where one risks life and limb to protect their neighbors, and sometimes those risks make them pay the ultimate sacrifice.
Next to the Massapequa Park Long Island Rail Road station, a memorial monument to these fallen heroes stands, tall and proud. A bronze statue of a firefighter rescuing a crying baby is flanked by marble plaques bearing the names of those who gave their very lives so that others may continue to draw breath.
