Family of 15 Displaced After Fire Destroys Home: PD
A family of 15 were displaced Tuesday morning after a fire consumed their North Amityville home, police say.

NORTH AMITYVILLE, NY — A fire completely destroyed a North Amityville family home early Tuesday morning, according to Suffolk County police.
Fifteen people — including small children and a wheelchair user — were able to safely escape the home, located at Emerald Lane South in North Amityville around 4:50 a.m., ABC7 reported.
Volunteer firefighters from the Copiague Fire Department responded to the scene, ABC7 said, and the chief said they had the fire under control in less than an hour.

The occupants were treated for smoke inhalation, and while the cause of the fire remains under investigation, it does not appear to be criminal, police said.
