Teaming Up For Troops In Massapequa

Children were asked to bring in donations such as gum, candy, granola bars, toothpaste and toothbrushes, soap, shampoo and sunscreen.

From Massapequa School District: Elementary students in the Massapequa School District recently did their part to help the troops. Birch Lane and Lockhart elementary schools participated in the Adopt-A- Battalion collection drive to coincide with Veterans Day.

Children were asked to bring in donations such as gum, candy, granola bars, toothpaste and toothbrushes, soap, shampoo and sunscreen. Each grade was assigned a specific item to ensure that all needs would be met for the care packages to be sent to military servicemen and women overseas. The collection drive was organized by the Student Council at Birch Lane under the direction of teachers Lauren Marocchi and Alison Morgan and by the SADD Club at Lockhart led by social worker Kerry Rivera.
