Teenage Brothers Conspired To Rob Man Of His Phone: Nassau Police

Police say one of the teens found the sale online, and his brother went and robbed the man at knifepoint.

Two Massapequa teens were arrested over the weekend and charged with a robbing a person at knifepoint last week.

According to police, one of the teens, a 15-year-old, arranged to purchase an iPhone that a 26-year-old man was selling through a social media app on Oct. 3. The boy's 16-year-old brother met the man near 691 Clocks Blvd. at 6:40 p.m. After inspecting the phone, police say the teen fled on foot toward Ellen Street with the phone, and the man chased him. As the man got close, police say the teen pulled out a black knife. The man ran back to his car and called police.

Police say an investigation led them to the Clocks Boulevard home of the teens on Oct. 5, where they found the stolen phone in possession of the 16-year-old. Both brothers were placed under arrest. The knife was not found.

The 16-year-old is charged with first-degree robbery and criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned on Saturday in Youth Division at the First District Court in Hempstead. The 15-year-old was charged with fourth-degree conpsiracy. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Family Court in Westbury on Oct. 15.
