TOBAY Notebook: Homeowners Cleanup in Old Bethpage
Your chance to get rid of that piled up rubbish.

If you never got a chance to do that spring cleaning and you're concerned as the days of summer tick away, the Town of Oyster Bay can help you get rid of unwanted rubbish.
The Town is holding one of its Homeowners Cleanup programs on Aug. 20. It will be the fifth of eight scheduled this year.
The program is open to residents but not businesses. You can bring unwanted items to the Town’s Solid Waste Disposal Complex at Bethpage-Sweet Hollow Road in Old Bethpage, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

You don't need to break up things like tree limbs, bushes or fence posts and you can bring in tires, metal objects larger than four feet and clean broken concrete.
Residents can even dispose of boats and boat trailers, provided they remove the battery and drain it of oil, gas, and other fluids. You must have proof that you own the boat or trailer and sign ownership over to the town.

Passenger cars, vans, pickup trucks and small trailers will be allowed into the program, but proof of residency will be required. Six-wheel vehicles or larger will be turned away.

Herman's Hermits Take Two
Second verse, same as the first.
Peter Noone and Herman's Hermits will be playing at John J. Burns Town Park as part of the Music Under the Stars concert series.
If that news sounds familiar, it's because the 60s band was set to play the park on July 25 but the event was rained out at the last minute.
The show has been rescheduled for Tuesday at 8 p.m.
Landmarks Meeting
The Town's Landmarks Preservation committee will hold a special meeting on Aug. 24.
They will hold hearings on requests to landmark the site of the former Maine Maid Inn in Jericho and the Community United Methodist Church in East Norwich.
The meeting will be held at Town Hall East, 54 Audrey Avenue, Oyster Bay at 7 p.m.
