'A Warm And Friendly Man': Fallen NCPD Crossing Guard’s Visitation, Burial Mass Set
John Miro died Friday, Mar. 6, just 11 days shy of his 71st birthday. His funeral arrangements are scheduled for this week.

MASSAPEQUA, NY. — Funeral arrangements have been announced for John Miro, the Massapequa crossing guard who died Friday after suffering injuries when he was hit by a car in Merrick on Feb. 27.
Visitation for Miro will take place at the Massapequa Funeral Home's South Chapel at 4980 Merrick Road, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, the funeral home announced. A mass of Christian burial for Miro is scheduled for 11:15 a.m. Thursday, with an interment scheduled 90 minutes later at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Farmingdale, the funeral home said.
One message left on Miro's tribute wall Monday identified him as a "warm and friendly man who always seemed to have a smile on his face," while others called him a kind heart, a"friendly guy" and a "dear friend."

Miro's death Friday came just 11 days before his 71st birthday, which would have been Mar. 17.
