West Nile Ground Treatment in North Massapequa

Residents should keep doors and windows shut Tuesday

Nassau County Health officials have announced that ground spraying for the West Nile Virus will take place in North Massapequa Tuesday.

Trucks will be spraying in areas north of the Southern State Parkway from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m., weather permitting, health officials said. 

The Nassau County Health Department released a map of areas to be sprayed.

Health officials say they will be using the pesticide scourge to spray localliy where mosquitoes have been found.

The risk of having adverse health affects is low according to the health department, but they are recommending you take certain precautions.

Homeowners should keep windows and doors shout and bring children's toys inside. 

They should also keep pets indoors and cover fishponds. Air conditioners should be set to recirculate and window fans should be turned off.

If weather causes spraying to be canceled, it will be done on Monday and Tuesday of next week.
