Ever wonder how people communicate when the power is out, cell towers are down, or a disaster strikes? Come see amateur radio operators in action during ARRL Field Day 2026, a nationwide emergency communications exercise.
The Order of Boiled Owls of New York and the Radio Central Amateur Radio Club will be setting up temporary radio stations at the Smith-Longwood Estate in Ridge, operating from the barn and making contacts across the country using voice, Morse code, digital communications, and even amateur radio satellites.
Visitors are welcome! Saturday, June 27 – Sunday, June 28, 2026
Public visiting hours: Saturday 1 PM through Sunday 2 PM
Location: Smith-Longwood Estate, 99 Smith Road, Ridge, NY
Special forum: Saturday at 1 PM — learn how hams communicate through amateur radio satellites. Bring the family, ask questions, see the equipment, and learn how amateur radio serves the community in emergencies.
Communication. Community. Preparedness. Adventure. Come see why ham radio is still going strong!
