Canine Companions for Independence And Lions Club Team Up To Help Children and Adults With Disabilities

Medford Non-Profit Dedicates New Lions Den Conference Room

Last weekend, the Medford-based Northeast Region of Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) dedicated its new Lions Den conference room with a day-long celebration.  For nearly 30 years, the Lions Club service organization has been an active supporter of CCI, the national non-profit that provides highly trained assistance dogs to children and adults with disabilities.  Honored guests were treated to tours of the 11-acre Miller Family Campus on Middle Island Road; Demonstrations by CCI Instructors; the unveiling of the Lions Den Donor Plaque; and emotional introductions of CCI Wounded Veterans Initiative graduates Sgt. Sam Cila (USA Ret.) and Capt. James Van Thach (USA Ret.).   The Lions Project for Canine Companions for Independence has donated over 25-million dollars to CCI since 1983.  Guests from as far away as Maine to Virginia participated in the dedication ceremony.
