Police Nab Medford Man Accused of Kidnapping Ex-Girlfriend, Stealing Her Car

The man fled to Georgia on Wednesday after the woman escaped the car, police say.

Authorities arrested a Medford man who kidnapped his ex-girlfriend Wednesday morning and fled to Georgia in her car after she escaped, police say.

Christopher Ryan, 23, broke into his 46-year-old ex-girlfriend’s home, located on Brook Street in Oakdale, at 5 a.m. Wednesday, forced her into her car and drive away, according to authorities.

The woman was able to escape the 2014 Mercedes after police said Ryan briefly stopped the car in Ozone Park.

Ryan then fled in the car, but was located at 10:25 p.m. by the Camden County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia, police say.

Ryan will be extradited back to Long Island at a later date. He faces burglary, robbery and kidnapping charges.
