
A Patchogue man faces a felony DWI charge after police say he drove drunk with two children in his car Tuesday night.
According to State Police, a trooper observed a 2009 Nissan traveling at a “high rate of speed” westbound on the Southern State Parkway in the Town of Islip at about 9:40 p.m.
During a traffic stop, the trooper determined that the driver, 38-year-old Ovidio D. Arriaza, was intoxicated and placed him under arrest, police said.

There were two 9-year-old children in the car at the time, police said. The children were turned over to a family member.
Arriaza is charged with felony DWI and two counts endangering the welfare of a child. He will be arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday.
