Police: Sayville Man Hit by Car Seriously Injured
Accident occurred in Sayville Tuesday night.

A Sayville man was seriously injured after being hit by a van while he was walking in Sayville Tuesday night, police said.
According to police, James Dower, 58, was walking north on Lincoln Avenue when he was struck by a 2013 Ford van that was traveling southbound on Lincoln Avenue and attempting to turn east onto Hiddink Avenue at 7:41 p.m.
The driver of the van, a 47-year-old Sayville man, remained at the scene.

Dower was transported via Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital where he is being treated for a serious head injury, police said.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. No criminal charges have been filed.
