Camp Avenue Students Make Valentines for Vets

Students at Camp Avenue Elementary School designed cards for the Town of Hempstead's Valentines for Veterans program.

Hempstead Town Councilwoman Angie Cullin (3rd right, back row) meets with students who participated in the Valentines for Vets program at Camp Avenue Elementary School.

Through this program, which the Town instituted in 2001, students create valentines to send to veterans at local VA hospitals.  Many of these men and women don't have families and it means so much to them to know that the young children appreciate them for the sacrifices they made for our nation.  Also pictured are Principal Ron Reinken (right, back row) and teacher Andrea Aldorasi (2nd left, back row).
