After New York Islanders' owner Charles Wang announced that the hockey team that currently plays at the Nassau Coliseum would be relocating to Brooklyn, many locals had something to say.
Patch asked residents on the Merrick Patch Facebook page what they thought of the decision to move following the 2015 season.
"I'm thinking we ought to be worried about what impact it will have on Nassau's revenue," Nanchetta Cat said. "And will the Coliseum remain open and then what about the Marriott?"
"It means we will have an empty slum on Hempstead Turnpike soon," Anne Marie Majkowski-Abbene added. "Just great for property values..."

Kim Berly said Nassau County didn't give Wang much of a choice due to the poor condition of the Nassau Coliseum.
"I am a Rangers' fan but I also know how important the islanders are to all of us and our communities," she said. "Hey, we're all Islanders!"
Ellen Morganlander Margulies added that it's truly a sad day for Nassau County.
"The County had the opportunity to renovate and revitalize Nassau Coliseum," she said. "We had the opportunity of jobs. I do not blame the Islanders at all. The Barclays Center is a beautiful new arena. The Barclays Center will be a great boom for Brooklyn and the people that live there. It could have been Nassau!"
