Nassau Police ID Man Fatally Shot By Officers Responding To Call

Police say the man was attacking officers who responded to a violent domestic disturbance when he was shot and killed.

Nassau police have identified the Merrick man who was shot to death by officers responding to a call for a domestic disturbance earlier this month.

Police say 43-year-old Alan Goyano was killed by officers when they responded to a violent domestic disturbance on Murray Place around 1:45 a.m. on June 6.

According to Newsday, Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder said a press conference that Goyano, who was naked, resisted a stun gun and was charging at an officer with a shard of glass, which was 8 or 9 inches long.

Newsday reported that the New York Attorney General's office is investigating the shooting.
