The North Merrick Public Library has made two new additions to its free museum pass program this month. The American Airpower Museum, located in Farmingdale, and the Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery & Aquarium now join the many other local museums and gardens that NMPL patrons can visit with their family at no cost through the program. The new passes admit four people to the attractions in any combination of adults and children.
The American Airpower Museum, open Thursday through Sunday, is home to a collection of aircrafts and vehicles, including some new additions on loan from the United States Air Force. Visitors can also purchase and participate in a Member Flight Experience, which culminates in a ride in a C-47 that participated in D-Day.
The Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery & Aquarium, open daily, has the largest living collection of New York State freshwater reptiles, fishes and amphibians. Visitors can tour two aquarium buildings and eight outdoor ponds, feed the hungry trout and try “Catch & Keep” fishing.
Free museum passes are available for reservation by North Merrick adult residents who have a library card and are in good standing with the library. All museum passes can be reserved online from the comfort of home, or at the library’s reference desk. Passes are reserved for three days, including date of pickup and return.
Other passes available to NMPL cardholders are: the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum; the Cradle of Aviation Museum; the Guggenheim Museum; the Nassau County Museum of Art; Old Westbury Gardens; the New York Botanical Garden; the Long Island Children’s Museum; and the Vanderbilt Museum and Planetarium.
