Three Teens Arrested After Stolen Gun, Controlled Substance Found In Car: Police
The gun and the substance, which police believed to be codeine, were found Saturday morning during a traffic stop, police say.

ROOSEVELT, NY. — Two men and a minor are facing criminal charges Monday after police found a stolen 9mm handgun and a substance believed to be codeine in their vehicle during a traffic stop in Roosevelt, police said.
Nassau County police said 19-year-old Abdul Rector and 18-year-old Supreme Master Allah Douglas were arrested after officers spotted their vehicle swerving with one of its headlights out and made a traffic stop at 4:30 a.m. Saturday. During the traffic stop, police saw a clear plastic bottle with what they believed to be codeine, police said. Police also found the stolen handgun, a 9mm Taurus G2C, on a 17-year-old passenger in the car, police said.
The minor and Rector, a Pemberton, New Jersey resident, were arrested without incident, police said. Douglas, who lives in Merrick, attempted to flee the scene but was caught and placed under arrest, police said.

Douglas is now facing charges of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest and traffic infractions, police said. Rector, meanwhile, faces two seventh-degree counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said. Finally, the minor faces charges of criminal possession of a firearm, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said.
Douglas and Rector were given appearance tickets returnable Jan. 16 while the minor’s arraignment was scheduled for Sunday, police said.
