2 Arrested With 30 Pounds Of Pot On Thruway

Both men were arraigned and sent to jail in lieu of bail or bond.

WOODBURY, NY — Two area men were arrested on the Thruway with about 30 pounds of pot. State police said troopers stopped a vehicle on I-87 in the Town of Woodbury around 7 p.m. Dec. 19 for vehicle and traffic violations.

During the interview with the driver — Marlon D. Moore, 38, of the Bronx — probable cause to search the vehicle and its occupants was established.

Police said Moore and his passenger Carey R. Nelson, 39, of Mount Vernon, were found to be in possession of about 30 pounds of marijuana.

Both men were taken into custody and process at the Newburgh barracks.

They were both charged with first-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a felony.

Additionally, Moore was charged with second-degree forgery and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, felonies, second-degree criminal impersonation, a misdemeanor, and vehicle and traffic violations.

Both men were arraigned in the Town of Woodbury Court and sent to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail or $100,000 bond.
