2 Killed In 2-Car Crash In Orange County

Police said one of the cars crossed over into the oncoming lane at first.

Two Hudson Valley residents died in a car crash in Orange County Friday. State police said Wednesday that the crash occurred around 11 p.m. on State Route 6 in the Town of Woodbury.

An investigation found that a 2007 Dodge Caliber, which was traveling west on Route 6, crossed over into the eastbound lane.

A 2016 Nissan Titan, which was going east, moved into the opposite lane to avoid the Dodge.

The Dodge corrected itself and moved back into the westbound lane where it struck the Nissan.

Both occupants of the Dodge — Jennifer Haines, 37, of Beacon, and Giosue Falanga, 29, of Middletown — were pronounced dead at the scene.

There were four people in the Nissan, two of which were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The other two occupants were take to Orange Medical Center, also with non-life-threatening injuries.
