HUDSON VALLEY, NY — It is expected to be a mostly rainy and chilly holiday weekend in the Hudson Valley, though it will start to clear up and get warmer on Memorial Day, according to meteorologists.

The National Weather Service predicts today will be sunny, but the wet weather starts on Saturday.

“Rain chances increase from west to east though the day on Saturday, then continue through much of the day on Sunday,” the National Weather Service said. “Showers then likely linger into the day on Monday.”

It is forecasting a “chilly and rainy weekend,” with widespread rain Saturday night into Monday morning, and high temperatures only reaching into the 50s and 60s during that timeframe.

On Saturday, steady rain will impact the region starting around mid-day. The chance of precipitation on Saturday night will be 100 percent. Rain is in the forecast again on Sunday.

Memorial Day will start to dry out in the Hudson Valley, and it will gradually get warmer, with high temperatures rebounding into the mid-70s, according to the National Weather Service.

Tonight: Cloudy, with a low around 48. Light and variable wind.

Saturday Night: Rain. Low around 45. Light east wind. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Sunday: Rain before 2 p.m., then a chance of showers after 2 p.m. High near 57. East wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
