2nd Cadet Dismissed From West Point On Drug Charges

The cadet also faces confinement as well as forfeiture of pay.

WEST POINT, NY — A second cadet has been dismissed from the Army as the probe into drug dealing continues at the U.S. Military Academy. Christopher Monge, of the class of 2017, was convicted Tuesday by a military judge drug-related offenses while at West Point.

Monge was sentenced to 30 months of confinement. He was also dismissed from the Army and will forfeit all pay and allowances.

According to information from the academy, Monge, a resident of Coplay, PA, was charged in November 2016 with wrongful possession and wrongful distribution of the controlled substances alprazolam and oxycodone and conspriacy to distribute controlled substances.

The academy’s spokeswoman Theresa Brinkerhoff said Monge’s behavior was inappropriate and inconsistent with the values of the military academy.

“The facts were presented in a full and open hearing and the issue was resolved in a manner consistent with military law and due process requirements,” she said.

Another cadet, Tevin Long of Richmond, TX was court-martialed in April for wrongful possession and distribution of opioid painkillers and anti-anxiety drugs.

An investigation began in November which implicated Long and Monge, as well as Joshua Bobo, Jaelen Gadson, Jalen Swett, Jared Rogers and Ammon Tuimanunei.
