3 Kids In Car As Driver Arrested For Felony DWI In Dutchess County: NYSP

The Poughkeepsie woman at the wheel was found to have a BAC of 0.17 percent, according to New York State troopers.​

TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A Dutchess County woman was arrested for potentially putting the lives of three children at risk in Poughkeepsie, according to state police.

The New York State Police say that on Saturday, around 8:17 p.m., troopers from Wappinger stopped a Nissan traveling north on South Road, in the Town of Poughkeepsie, for traffic violations.

While speaking with the driver, 31-year-old Shabrina N. Willis, of Poughkeepsie, troopers noticed signs of intoxication, according to police. Standardized field sobriety tests were administered, which Willis failed, NYSP said.

State police say that three children, a three-year-old, a four-year-old, and an eight-year-old, were also in the vehicle at the time of the stop.

Willis was arrested and taken for processing, where her blood alcohol concentration (BAC) was found to be 0.17 percent, police said.

State police said the children were turned over to a sober party.

Willis was charged with three counts of felony aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger; felony first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle; misdemeanor driving while intoxicated; misdemeanor driving while intoxicated (BAC of 0.08 percent or more); and several vehicle/traffic violations.

She was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Poughkeepsie Court on April 23.
