6YO Killed By School Bus In Kiryas Joel ID'd: UPDATE
The bus was operated by the Kiryas Joel school district.

KIRYAS JOEL, NY — The child killed by a school bus in Kiryas Joel Friday has been identified. State Police said Leah Mezzi, 6, of Brooklyn, got off the bus around 11:15 a.m. at the intersection of Lemburg Road and Acres Road in the Village of Kiryas Joel.
She walked to a south sidewalk, but then abruptly changed directions and started to cross the street in front of the bus, police said.
The bus driver did not see the child change directions and she was struck by the bus’ front bumper.

Mezzi was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation by the State Police BCI, Commercial Vehicle Unit and Accident Reconstruction Unit is going.

KIRYAS JOEL, NY — A 6-year-old girl was struck and killed by a school bus in Kiryas Joel in Orange County. State Police said the incident occurred around 11 a.m. Friday at the corner of Lemberg Court and Acres Road.
The girl fell as she was getting off the bus and was hit by her bus driver, News 12 said.
