AG Releases Video Of Man Set On Fire By Stun Gun
The Catskill man put hand sanitizer on his head and body before a police officer fired a stun gun at him.

CATSKILLS, NY — Video from a police station was released as part of the New York attorney general's investigation into the death of a Catskill man.
Jason Jones died Dec. 15 following an encounter with members of the Catskill Police Department in October.
Attorney General Letitia James said the Office of Special Investigation opened an investigation into Jones's death Dec. 16.

According to the attorney general, Jones walked into the VIllage of Catskill Police Department building in the early morning hours of Oct. 30.
At one point, Jones sprayed hand sanitizer on his body and head and an officer used a stun gun to subdue him, setting him on fire, according to law enforcement.

Jones has been in the hospital since that time, and on Dec. 15, he was pronounced dead, James's office said.

In the video, Jones can be seen in the lobby of the police department wandering around in an unsteady manner.
After removing his shirt, he applies hand sanitizer, which turned out to be flammable, to his head and body. One of the three officers fires a stun gun at him, and Jones was set on fire.
The officers are seen leaving the lobby as Jones tries to put out the fire on his shoulders and head.
Greene County District Attorney Joseph Stanzione, who was looking into the incident, said because of Jones's death, the investigation had to be turned over to the state attorney general, Hudson Valley 360 reported.
Jones was on a respirator while he was hospitalized.
According to his obituary, he was a graduate of Catskill High School, where he was an outstanding athlete. Jones was 29 when he died.
He is survived by his mother, Pam Jones, his father and stepmother Jeff and Margaret Jones.
