The community has established a fundraising website for the library.
Organizer Vanessa La Rocca, of Pleasant Valley, wants to raise $100,000.
On the GoFundMe page for the Pleasant Valley Free Library, the board of trustees wrote that thousands of town residents use the library in myriad ways — "from early childhood education classes and technology training to craft clubs and yoga — in addition to it serving as one of the most prolific providers of books in the Mid-Hudson Library Network."
Donations of any amount — from $5 to $5,000 — "will help them address the costs associated with restoration as expeditiously as possible."
