(April 3, 2018 – Poughkeepsie, NY) – The Archdiocese of New York’s Office of the Superintendent of Schools today announced that John Renzo, a fifth grade teacher at Holy Trinity School in Poughkeepsie, will be awarded “Teacher of the Month” by iHeart Radio station, Q92 on Wednesday, April 4.

Nominated by fifth grader, Brett Buono, Mr. Renzo is a 16 year veteran educator at Holy Trinity School in Poughkeepsie, where he has specialized in middle school social studies. Mr. Renzo is a lifelong Hudson Valley resident and parishioner at St. Martin de Porres parish in Poughkeepsie. He has also been a long-time volunteer at the local food bank.

When told of his selection as Teacher of the Month, Mr. Renzo stated, "I am blessed to work with a great staff who have been such positive influences and have taught me a lot. I am also greeted each day by students who are passionate about learning, which makes each day fun. Seeing the students listed on the Our Lady of Lourdes High School Honor Roll, and the success of my former students, brings me great joy!"

Kathleen Spina, Principal of Holy Trinity School added, "Mr. Renzo is a hardworking and reliable staff member who is always willing to lend a hand. He has a positive attitude which he brings into his teaching every day."

All students from the Hudson Valley can submit nomination letters justifying their submissions for the Teacher of the Month.
