Dutchess Man Accused Of Threatening To Bomb Government Building

Police said they received the threatening letter in January.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A Poughkeepsie man was arrested Tuesday trying to get on a plane in Florida, because, police said, he threatened to blow up a government building. State police said Dominick Volino, 53, of Poughkeepsie, was charged with marking a terroristic threat, a felony.

In January, state police said they were forwarded a letter from Volino in which he threatened to bomb a New York State government building.

With the assistance of Amtrak Police Department, the U.S. Marshals Service, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Broward County Sheriff's Office in Florida and the Dutchess County District Attorney's Office, Volino was arrested in the Fort Lauderdale airport attempting to fly to Honduras.

According to a state police spokesman, Volino is a level 1 registered sex offender in the City of Poughkeepsie, the Poughkeepsie Journal said.

He was arraigned in the Town of Pleasant Valley Court and sent to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail or $100,000 bond.
