Dutchess Man Violates Protection Order, Destroys IPad: Police

State police said the man also endangered the welfare of a child.

UNION VALE, NY — A Dutchess County man was accused of violating an order of protection and destroying an electronic tablet.

The New York State Police said, on Tuesday, troopers arrested Leandro Castro, 52, of Union Vale, charging him with first-degree criminal contempt and third-degree criminal mischief, felonies, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

Police said the investigation found Castro was involved in a domestic dispute and, in the process, destroyed an iPad.

His actions were contrary to a valid order of protection, according to authorities.

Castro was arraigned in the Town of Union Vale Court and sent to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail or $20,000 bond.

He is next scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
