Dutchess Voters Go To Polls Tuesday To Decide 2017-18 School Budgets

Besides deciding budgets, there are elections for board members and other propositions.

DUTCHESS COUNTY, NY — Voters all around the Dutchess County will be going to the polls Tuesday to decide whether to approve school district budgets for the 2017-18 school year. There will also be propositions for transportation equipment and establishing capital reserves. One district is even voting on whether to allow a student to become a non-voting board member.

Arlington School District
Beacon City School District
  • 2017-18 budget: $68,650,000.
  • Percent change: 2.81 percent.
  • Propositions: Vehicle replacement; student board member; capital reserve. Go here for information.
  • Polls open: 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Voting takes place at Beacon High School, for all voters who live in the City of Beacon, and Glenham Elementary School, for voters who reside in the Town of Fishkill or the Town of Wappinger. To determine your voting location, call 845-838-6900, ext. 2032.
Poughkeepsie City School District
  • 2017-18 budget: $96,747,054.
  • Percent change: 2.07 percent.
  • Propositions: N/A.
  • Board election: Choose two — Debra Long, Doreen Clifford, Gregory "Tron" Melton, Ralph Coates, Greg Charter.
  • Polls open: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Spackenkill School District
  • 2017-18 budget: $45,215,920.
  • Percent change: 1.86 percent.
  • Proposition: Bus proposition.
  • Polls open: 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Spackenkill High School.
Wappingers School District
  • 2017-18 budget: $225,181,606.
  • Percent change: 1.8 percent.
  • Propositions: Bus purchase.
  • Polls open: 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
