Faso To Hold Town Hall In Esopus

The town hall event will be co-hosted by the congressman and Move Forward New York.

ESOPUS, NY — Rep. John Faso, R-Kinderhook, will co-host a town hall in Esopus from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31. The town hall was organized in cooperation with Move Forward New York, a left-leaning organization of citizen-activists, according to information from the congressman.

After meeting with Faso in June, Move Forward New York presented him with a proposal for a joint town hall event over the August House recess. (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)

The moderators will be Dr. Gerald Benjamin of SUNY New Paltz and Debra Clinton of Move Forward New York.

Doors will open at 6 p.m., organizers said.

After the moderators welcome everyone and set the ground rules about asking questions and the format for the evening, Faso will give opening remarks, which will be followed by the question-and-answer session from 6:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

As audience members sign in, they will have the opportunity to submit questions on index cards. The moderators will alternate selecting questions, which will be asked by the person who wrote it in the audience.

Moderators will determine whether a follow-up question is appropriate.

The venue hold approximately 200 attendees – 70 tickets will be distributed by Move Forward New York; contact: mfny19@gmail.com. Seventy tickets will be distributed by Congressman Faso’s office; contact: 202-225-5614. Sixty tickets will be distributed at the door on a first-come, first-serve basis. Limit one ticket per request.

The event will be held at the Esopus Town Hall, 284 Broadway in Ulster Park.

Organizers said no signage will be allowed to be brought into town hall.
