Hudson Valley Man Accused Of Shooting His Mother
The mother was taken by a neighbor to Orange Regional Medical Center.
WALLKILL, NY — Police arrested a Wallkill man after he was accused of shooting his own mother. Wallkill police responded around 11 a.m. Tuesday to a report of an assault involving a weapon at a location on Greenway Terrace.
Derrick Fields, 27, of the Town of Wallkill, was taken into custody for shooting his 45-year-old mother, police said. She had come to the location because someone had said that Fields was violent.
The mother was taken by a neighbor to Orange Regional Medical Center, where she is listed in stable condition.

The charges filed against Fields include first-degree assault, second-degree possession of a weapon, second-degree robbery and assault on a police officer, all felonies.
He was arraigned in the Town of Wallkill Court and sent to the Orange County Jail on $150,000 bail or $300,000 bond.
