I-84 Traffic Slowdowns and Stoppages Expected for Utility Work
Crews will be performing utility work, weather permitting.

FISHKILL, NY — Motorists are advised that traffic slowdowns and stoppages are expected on both eastbound and westbound sides of Interstate 84 between Exit 12 (Route 52) and Exit 13 (Route 9) in Fishkill, Dutchess County, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, while crews perform utility work, weather permitting, according to the state Department of Transportation. A rain date of Thursday, June 28 is set.
State Police and flaggers are expected to be on site for traffic control, however motorists should expect delays and seek alternate routes where possible.
Drivers are asked to use caution when traveling through the work zone area and pay particular attention to all traffic control devices, including signs and flaggers.

Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
This month, the DOT and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee unveiled a new public service announcement and social media campaign focused on the importance of respecting flagging personnel. This year’s work zone safety campaign, “Flaggers have families too,” is designed to remind motorists that flagging personnel are not attempting to disrupt traffic — they are simply doing their jobs and want to get home safely at the end of each work day.
