Jury Finds Hudson Valley Man Guilty Of DWI
Police said the man was driving in a reckless fashion and turned off his headlights to avoid being apprehended.
WARWICK, NY — An Orange County man could be spending up to a year in jail after a jury convicted him of driving while intoxicated.
Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler said Allan Jones, 27, of Warwick, was convicted Jan. 31 of driving while intoxicated and related traffic offenses.
During the trial, prosecutors said Jones drove a car Dec. 27 in the town of Warwick in a reckless fashion while turning off his headlights in an effort to avoid detection by the police.

Officers were eventually able to stop his car, which struck a police vehicle in the process.
Jones failed a series of roadside field sobriety tests and then submitted to a blood test which found the presence of both alcohol and marijuana.

After the jury returned the guilty verdict, the case was adjourned to April 26 for sentencing.
When he is sentenced, Jones faces up to a year in the Orange County Jail, as well as mandated revocation of his driving privileges.
Hoovler said his office will continue to hold drunk drivers accountable for their actions.
"Intoxicated motorists pose a risk and endanger officers who seek to keep our roads safe," he said. "We all deserve to drive on roads free from the danger of intoxicated drivers."
