Legoland NY's New Ferrari Build & Race Attraction Takes The Green Flag

The fun starts after climbing behind the wheel of the world's largest Ferrari made entirely of Legos — then it's a race to the finish line.

This massive Lego Ferrari model was built from 554,767 Lego bricks and took Master Model Builders over 2,300 hours to assemble. The car weighs almost 4,000 pounds and sits at the entrance of the new indoor attraction.

GOSHEN, NY — Legoland New York's newest attraction has all the elements that Legoland does better than any other amusement park in the world.

Seeing the world's largest Lego Ferrari is a thrill for kids of all ages who created life-sized Lego creations (if only in their imaginations). But it's somehow turning the very serious business of Ferrari racing into a child's very engaging plaything that makes the new attraction uniquely Legoland.

Perhaps the best thing about this Hudson Valley amusement park might be that it never gets old, because there is always something new.

And now, Legoland New York is "hitting the gas" on family fun for the 2026 season with the brand-new Lego Ferrari Build & Race, which opened on March 27, with the largest Lego brick Ferrari 12 Cilindri car in the world.

Guests will be able to get up close and hop in the driver's seat to experience the vehicle firsthand.

Lego Ferrari Build & Race features four immersive zones.

The Garage Zone is where you first enter the Pit Stop Garage to see the life-size Lego Ferrari. Guests can sit in the driver's seat and learn about Ferrari's racing legacy.

The Build and Test Zone lets you join the Pit Crew to create your very own Ferrari race car using Lego bricks, then test it on extreme jump and race ramps while competing against other builders.

The Race Track Zone allows guests to use digital technology to scan the "toy" Ferrari designs, personalize cars, and race against others in the virtual Pista di Fiorano racetrack to see who has the fastest lap time.

DUPLO Zone gives younger builders a chance to use larger bricks to create their own designs and get in on the fun.

Legoland New York's Ferrari Build & Race is the sixth Lego Ferrari attraction worldwide, joining the others in Carlsbad, California; Winter Haven, Florida; Billund, Denmark; Windsor, U.K.; and Iskander Puteri, Malaysia; as part of a unique global partnership between Merlin Entertainments, which operates Legoland Resorts, and Ferrari.

Prior to waving the checkered flag, Legoland New York revved up its first-ever "Brick Pit Crew" competition, calling on kids across the region to create and submit their coolest Lego Ferrari car builds online.

Those builders had a chance to join the exclusive crew of 20 kids who were among the very first to experience the new attraction. They even had one last race to the pole to take their winning Lego builds and be among the first to race them through the new racing ramps and digital track at the attraction.

As a special treat, Johnny Kaminskey, one of the youngest winners in Ferrari Challenge racing history, brought his (decidedly not Lego) Ferrari to welcome those builders to a first shakedown of the remarkable new attraction. The teen racer used the opportunity to raise awareness of one of his other passions (other than Ferrari racing and Legos), The Kids for Kids Foundation — a community raising money for organizations that support children struggling with medical challenges.

A visit to the Ferrari Build & Race alone would be worth the visit to Legoland New York, but there are plenty of other reasons to visit the famous Hudson Valley amusement park.

In addition to the new Ferrari experience, Legoland New York has over 40 rides, attractions and seasonal events, in seven Lego-themed lands, all designed for families with children ages 2-12.

Guests can transform into a Minifigure on the Lego Factory Adventure Ride, master the art of Spinjitzu on Lego Ninjago the Ride, save the kingdom on the Dragon Coaster, explore Lego-built cities in Miniland, and hop on the Minifigure Skyflyer for transportation between the top and bottom of the park, and a bird's-eye view of the 150-acre park.

Sure, you could go to Monaco. But would there be a life-size Lego castle in the hotel lobby? (Jeff Edwards/Patch)

The 2026 season's fan-favorite activities and celebrations include:

  • Master Model Builder Experience: You can watch the experts at work as they design, build and maintain over 15,000 Lego models in Legoland New York.
  • Water Playground: Starting Memorial Day Weekend, guests can cool down with four water slides, a giant 318-gallon water bucket, and the chance to build and race your very own Lego boat.
  • Lego Festival: New interactive zones will appear with more chances for families to build, dance and play.
  • Brick-or-Treat and Holiday Bricktacular: Legoland New York's signature Halloween and holiday events will transform the park with seasonal décor, shows and food.

You can also extend the Lego fun with a stay at the 250-room, kid-centric Legoland Hotel, just feet away from the theme park's entrance. Rooms come in four different themes: Lego Pirates, Kingdom, Lego Friends and Lego Ninjago.

There's just one place you can see the world in Legos without ever leaving the Hudson Valley. (Jeff Edwards/Patch)
