Letter To The Editor: Revoking Net Neutrality Harms NY19
The author is a Democrat running to challenge incumbent Rep. John Faso, R-Kinderhook, for New York's 19th Congressional District.

ELKA PARK, NY — The despicable vote by the FCC Thursday will reduce equal access to broadband speed and quality in a congressional district that already has non-existent, spotty and/or weak service from a handful of greedy internet service providers (ISPs). This will also allow ISPs to charge ridiculously high fees in return for reduced service while also allowing these providers to exert control over what and how much information reaches consumers.
In recent weeks, 19 state attorneys general, including New York’s Eric Schneiderman, revealed that false identities were used in at least 2 million public comments that the FCC said it relied on to come to its decision today.
The Republican majority of the FCC ignored legitimate and documented examples of these false identities, including some that many believe emanated from servers that reside in Russia.

Rep. John Faso has not weighed in at all on this important constituent issue leading up to today’s vote.
It’s my belief that a free and open Internet is a right for every American. If elected in November, I will fight for reliable internet services for our large underserved rural communities and for increased broadband competition, and, yes, bring back Net Neutrality.
