On Feb. 27, Town of Fishkill Police officers Joseph DePalma, John Hurtado and Sergeant Gerald Cocozza were sent to investigate a domestic dispute at The Views at Rocky Glen apartment complex in Fishkill.

When they arrived, they said they were approached by Becerril who had a knife.

Authorities said he ignored the officers' orders to drop the knife, and an officer fired a department-issued stun gun, which was not effective.

Police said Becerril was shot while he fought with the officers, who were trying to take him into custody.

He was airlifted in critical condition to Westchester Medical Center.

Chassity N. Wade, 30, was also shot, police said. She appeared to have been trying to stop the confrontation or disarm Becerril.

She was taken to Montefiore St. Luke's Cornwall in stable condition.

Police said that no town of Fishkill officers were injured.
