'Mask Rage' Arrest At Thruway Service Area: NYSP
A South Carolina man didn't appreciate being called out over not wearing a mask and started a fight, police said.

SAUGERTIES, NY — A South Carolina man, who wasn't wearing a mask, was accused of assaulting another man during a fight at a Thruway service area.
The New York State Police said the incident happened around 3:50 p.m. Sunday at the Malden Service Area on Interstate 87 in the town of Saugerties.
Troopers found that a man got into an argument with Angel Carrera Gomez, 28, of Spartanburg, South Carolina, over Gomez not wearing a mask.

The argument escalated to the point that Carrera Gomez punched the man in the face, according to authorities, causing him to fall on the ground and hit his head.
As a result, police said, the victim suffered cuts to his face, and his eyeglasses and watch were damaged.

Carrera Gomez was taken into custody and processed at the Kingston barracks where he was charged with third-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal mischief, both misdemeanors.
He was issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Saugerties Court Feb. 23.
