Don't forget to vote May 21 if you live in the mid-Hudson Valley. Here's what you need to know.
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — New York residents are asked to vote on their local school district’s budget and board of education May 21. Here are fast facts about a few of the elections in the mid-Hudson Valley.
Poughkeepsie City School District
Voting information
Polls are open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. For polling places, go here.
Board of Education
Three candidates are vying for one seat. They are Andrew Rieser, Addie Davis and Joyneia C. Joyner.

School budget
- Proposed for 2019-20: $105.1 million
- Increase over current spending: 5.3 percent
- Tax levy increase: 2.71 percent
Arlington SCD
Voting information
Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Locations can be found here.
Board of Education
Five candidates are vying for three seats. They are Marion Quinn, Kelly Cahill Chenski, Aelan Mosden, Kerri Fasulo and Mark Tornatore.

School budget
- Proposed for 2019-20: $216.2 million
- Increase over current spending: 2.99 percent
- Tax levy increase: 2.15 percent
Voters are also being asked to approve a school bus and equipment proposition in the amount of $1,975.500 bonded over five years.
Beacon City School District
Voting information
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Locations are Beacon High School, 101 Matteawan Road, for all registered voters who live within the city limits of the City of Beacon., and Glenham Elementary School, 20 Chase Drive, Fishkill, for all registered voters who reside in the Town of Fishkill and the Town of Wappinger.
Board of Education
Three candidates are vying for three seats. They are Michael Rutkoske, Antony Tseng and Meredith Heuer.
School budget
- Proposed for 2019-20: $73.5 million
- Increase over current spending: 3.1 percent
- Tax levy increase: 4.4 percent
Voters are also being asked to authorize the school district to increase the estimated maximum cost of the 2017 Capital Project from $8,995,000 to $9,695,000; and to transfer the total additional sum of $700,000 (which monies have been previously levied and collected as taxes) from unassigned general fund balance (in the amount of $200,000) and unassigned capital funds previously approved by the voters in the 2016-2017 school year (in the amount of $250,000) and the 2017-2018 school year (in the amount of $250,000).
Wappingers CSD

Board of Education
Three candidates are vying for three seats. They are Eddy A. Sloshower, Marie Johnson and Michael Lopez.
School budget
- Proposed for 2019-20: $235 million
- Increase over current spending: 1.57 percent
- Tax levy increase: 2.14 percent
Voters are also being asked to approve a bus proposition in the amount of $2,297,040. A total of 25 vehicles are being requested, ranging from 71-passenger buses to 29-passenger vans.
